Birthday Love!

This weekend was my 27th birthday. *pause for reaction* I know right. I went out the Saturday before at 11:30pm to start the night off right. LOL So I could bring in my bday with my Bestfriend and a drink. I live in NY so I have all night and day to bring up something to do. lol We went to a friends bar and then to a pizza shop called Artichoke. Got in at about 5am. Slept till 10:30am up and attem to brunch. Ugh I hate NYC transportation on the weekend. Even Cabs. Streets are shut down for street fairs. (which I love when I have NOTHING to do.) But I was an HOUR late to my birthday brunch. I have no pictures of that part of my day.

But My great Friend Stephanie over at kinks an koils took me to Brooklyn and to a great place called Soca. Its a wonderful cozy place with great drinks and fusion cuisine.

Skirt Steak with roasted potatoes, Collard greens, and Mac and Cheese. It was soooo yummy and filling. Also I had a drink called the French Q. 75 - It had muddled grapes and was delish. As well as a Hibiscus and Agave Margarita - Very Spicy! Like a spiked Tea. All in all it was a great Birthday. I had a great time. If you want to know why I am bundled up. We ate outside so I could see the stars.

How to: Make your make up brushes soft again!

Think of your brushes like hair. You wash and wash and wash and put on drying products on it. Eyeshadow, blush and foundation none of these things are great for skin or hair so how can it make the brushes soft or help them stay soft. Answer: it wont! It will only make it worse. So I have read blog after blog of baby shampoo and olive oil. None of it worked for me. The baby shampoo I still use to clean my brushes along with a antibacterial hand soap mix. But the olive oil....I am heavy handed after i was done my brushes stuck together and I use the spray Olive oil and it didn't do a thing.

So what am I using you ask?

Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars – all in the same day.

Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. on a bike. Makes taking your son bowling look a little lame, right?

And what has Rick done for his father? Not much – except save his life.

This love story began in Winchester, Mass., 43 years ago, when Rick was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs.

"He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life," Dick says doctors told him and his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. "Put him in an institution."

But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to the engineering department at Tufts University and asked if there was anything to help the boy communicate. "No way," Dick says he was told. "There's nothing going on in his brain."

"Tell him a joke," Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a lot was going on in his brain.
